This century is the century of light and its fruit is the unity of mankind though hopelessness of war and estrangement seems to carry on forever. But God's will is the Unity of Mankind. It will come. It has got to come. :) We all pray and hope for it.

a better tommorow will only come when the religious teachings of the old yesterday is replaced with newer inspirations. islam, with its medieval, decayed and corrupt philosophy, must be abandoned in order for our civiliation to evolve.
ReplyDeleteSuch a joyous celebration of multi-ethnic children with parents and/or caring adults represents a critical step towards building world solidarity and unity.
ReplyDeleteIf there is any possibility of including a translation of the lyrics on this blog?
Understanding the words would enhance the beautiful visuals.
Thanks for sharing this!
Because of copyright concerns, translation should be, and hopefully will be, by the producers of the song.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this inspiring production which is a message of hope to the whole of mankind

This is incredible music, and I know, I'm a professional musician. I'm an American Indian Baha'i with a Ph. D. in Ethnomusicology and I teach hundreds of music and anthropology students each year---SO BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY, THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST EVER!!!! This song is making musical history---socially, historically, spiritually, and it gives incredibly beautiful hope to millions. What precious memories these singers and children make. In Arabic I say: "Ya Baha'u'l-Abha! Shookran lakum !" This means in English: "O Glory of the Most Gorious! Thank you all !!!"

Energizing, uplifting, joyous, but most of all uniting hopes for tomorrow. The world should stand up and take notice: there are new kids on the block. They want peace and unity.

ReplyDeleteAnother musical effort by a controversial convert to Islam (Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam):
ReplyDeleteYusuf Islam enthralls crowds in Lebanon
http://www.alarabiya.net/articles/2012/02/21/196073.html
"The Arab Spring took on a different form in Islam’s concert as he sang about love, reconciliation and freedom of nations. On the day of the show, Islam explained to Al Arabiya that the uprising of the Arabs reminded him of the sixties when people all around the world were marching for peace. To embrace this new movement, Islam wrote “My People”, a song which tackles the issue of people’s right to freedom and the need to take decisions without hurting the others. He added that this song is dedicated to all the nations who are seeking freedom and liberty peacefully."

ReplyDeleteA siren song is this Cairo freedom fire
February 2, 2011

"This fresh Cairo breeze was so unexpected, a million strong gust for freedom. Stunning. One peoples' liberation is potentially everyone's, and actually so. Egyptian courage gives us courage, we re-imagine daring, and we consider fresh responses to the tyranny of globalized greed and excess. ... And consider the fate of the children of the entire Arab world. Can this "Berlin wall moment" of the Middle East bring down the fundamentalist veil of gender oppression and religious intolerance? New support for the rights of all women to self-determination can torch the age-old patriarchal coercion that also keeps children cowed to obedience."

No musical tie-in here, but here is another person of interest in the Egyptian human rights scene:
ReplyDeletehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nonie_Darwish
"Nonie Darwish is an Egyptian-American human rights activist, and founder of Arabs For Israel, and is Director of Former Muslims United."
Nonie Darwish is an ex-Muslim who has been a courageous advocate of peace, human rights and reform in Muslim world. (Unfortunately, though, she mistakenly believes slanderous misinformation about Muhammad, which tends to make her influence divisive, rather than the healing, unifying influence which we expect that Baha'i teachings will have.)
